POM is Now Extraordinary Church
October 20, 2019, Mississauga, Ontario
The Pentecostals of Mississauga announces to the community that it has changed its name to Extraordinary Church.
While the mission and UPCI affiliation of Extraordinary Church remains the same, only the name has changed.
After months of careful consideration and prayer, several factors have influenced this decision.
“Our church’s mission is still to share the love and truth of Christ with those in our community, no matter what the cost to us,” shares Akil Thompson, Senior Pastor.
“We realized that our church’s name could be hindering our mission.”
The way churches were named centuries and more recently decades ago is no longer relevant today.
“Our new name, Extraordinary Church, represents who we are. In the Bible, it was recorded that “amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen extraordinary things today.” Thompson adds, “When our community interacts with us, may it be said that they, too, were all amazed and declared that they had seen extraordinary things. Jesus Christ never changes, and He is always relevant.” Pastor Akil goes on to say, “And we are still the church located at 2500 Mimosa Row, Mississauga.”
