Day Twenty-Eight: More Joy
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." - James 1:2-4 NKJV
Life isn't always fun. It isn't always easy, and it certainly isn't always comfortable. How encouraging, right? Let me give you some hope today. Just because life doesn't always seem good, let us not forget that our God has never once ceased to be good. As the saying goes, "God is good, all the time! And all the time, God is good!" This thought is easy to cling to in seasons of triumph and blessing, but what about the seasons of testing when the unexpected happens? When our health is struggling, or the bills need paying. What do we do when we struggle to find joy amid our trials and testing? We must reframe our perspective and renew our minds by remembering His promises!
Please understand that joy is a state of mind, not a feeling. This is why the Apostle Paul instructs us to "…be transformed by the renewing of your mind…" because we must understand that as we shift our perspective in the presence of our problems by remembering God's promises, these trials will produce faith that can transform us!
Today, I pray that we see the pruning of our lives or tests not as punishment but rather as opportunities to be fruitful. Even when life is hard, we will "…count it all joy…" and shift our perspective! Understand that there is a divine more that God has prepared for us to step into on the other side of our momentary struggles. He is good all the time, and there is more He's calling us to step into today!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to see my trials with Your eyes. Help my heart to remain trusting through each process. Renew my mind today, and reframe my perspective, because I know there is MORE You are calling me to experience today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
